Water

Water is Wisconsin's most precious natural resource, and although we appear to have an abundance of water, we cannot be complacent about how we use and manage it. The growing demand for groundwater is depleting aquifers and affecting water quality in some areas, raising concerns about the potential impacts on public health and surface water resources.

In second grade, students learn about the water cycle and how water moves on Earth.

In 2016, the school installed two water bottle refilling stations. The installation was made possible due to the Drive for Kids event that took place last year. There are many benefits of using a water bottle filling station:

  • Using a refillable water bottle is better for our environment! It’s quick and easy and you can see the number of plastic bottles you’re helping to keep out of the landfill on the counter. It takes a disposable bottle 1,000 years to biodegrade in a landfill.
  • Refilling a water bottle is much cheaper than constantly buying bottled water. If you were to replace 200 bottles of water a year with free refillable water, it would amount to an annual savings of $300!
  • Having a quick and easy water filling station actually helps us drink more water, which we all need to do!
